The 120th Anniversary of Thailand – Russia Diplomatic Relations: “Sharing Our Past, Forging Our Future”

          On 14 July 2017, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Thailand, together with H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand, presided over the opening ceremony of the 120th Anniversary of the Establishment of Thailand – Russia Diplomatic Relations, at the Fashion Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Centre. Members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior representatives from Thai government agencies, the private sector, educational institutes, and the media also joined in the celebration.

         On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also presented awards to the winner and runner-ups of the high-school quiz competition on Thai – Russian relations and on general knowledge of Russia which was held earlier on 23 June 2017 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

        Various activities to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand – Russia Diplomatic Relations are held from 14 – 16 July 2017 at the fashion hall, Siam Paragon shopping centre, under the theme “Sharing Our Past, Forging Our Future”. The event is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangkok and relevant groups from the Thai government, private sector and educational institutes.

          Highlights of the event include an exhibition on historical relations and cooperation between Thailand and Russia. Books, Russian food, souvenirs, and an exclusive joint stamp commissioned by the Thailand Post and the Russian Post will also be available for purchase. Participants will also enjoy various activities on stage such as Russian cultural performances, a musical performance by the Silpakorn Saxophone Ensemble, talks on Russian culture and tourism, interviews of eminent persons on Thai – Russian historical relations, and photo sessions on stage with the snow machine and the event’s bear mascot – Mr. Russky Sri Ayudhya.
