On 21 June 2017, H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Birzhan Nurymbetov, Vice Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Kazakhstan, co-chaired the 3rd Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) Astana, Kazakhstan between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand also had bilateral discussions with H.E. Mr. Mukhtar Tileuberdi, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and the Vice Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Kazakhstan. 
 
The JC Meeting also consisted of a Senior Officials’ Meeting which was co-chaired by Mr. Krerkpan Roekchamnong, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Mr. Tleuov Nurken Orynbekovich, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Partnership, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Kazakhstan. The Thai delegation was represented by officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thailand Board of Investment, and PTT Public Company Limited.
 
During the Meeting, both sides recognised the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan in 2017 and exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and bring about concrete outcomes in various dimensions such as the private sector, trade, investment, energy, mining, and tourism as well as further cooperation between the Foreign Ministries. The meeting was held in an amicable atmosphere, reflecting the will and intention of both sides to further promote bilateral relations. In addition, the Thai side congratulated Kazakhstan for hosting the Astana Expo 2017, in which a Thai Pavilion was constructed and displayed. 
 
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan signed the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Exemption from Visa requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Service/Official Passports.
 
Thailand will host the 4th JC Meeting in Bangkok.
