Strengthening and Enhancing Cybersecurity Cooperation in the ASEAN Region: Towards an Integrated Approach in Addressing Transnational Crime

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of the Kingdom of Thailand will co-host an ASEAN Workshop entitled “Strengthening and Enhancing Cybersecurity Cooperation in the ASEAN Region: Towards an Integrated Approach in Addressing Transnational Crime” on 28 – 29 June 2017 at the Ninth Tower, Rama IX Road in Bangkok.

The Workshop will be organized during “Thailand Cybersecurity Week 2017” being organized by Electronic Transaction Development Agency (ETDA).

The Workshop plans to (1) exchange good practices and experiences in cybersecurity threat and responses; (2) brainstorm ideas on how to strengthen cooperation, through an integrated and holistic approach, amongst ASEAN and ASEAN-led mechanisms to address more effectively cybersecurity challenges and explore practical means to advance cooperation on the issue, including a proposal of an ASEAN Cybersecurity centre, (3) promote cooperation between government agencies and private sectors in building capacity on cybersecurity responses and threats from  the use of information technology and communication.

Representatives from ASEAN, as well as resource persons and guest speakers from outside ASEAN (Australia, European Union, New Zealand) and relevant international organizations (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime – UNODC, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe – OSCE) have also been invited.
