Following the spread of wildfires through woodland in central Portugal on 18 June 2017, resulting in 62 deaths and 60 injured, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs sent Messages of Condolences to His Excellency António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal and His Excellency Augusto Santos Silva,  Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal as follows:

1. Message of Condolences from H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to His Excellency António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal

Excellency,

          I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and great damage caused by the forest fires in central Portugal on 18 June 2017.

          On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to Your Excellency, and through you, to the victims and families affected by this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Portugal during this difficult period.

          Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

2. Message of Condolences from H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand to His Excellency Augusto Santos Silva,  Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal

Excellency,

          I have learnt with deep sorrow of the deadliest forest fires in the central region of Pedrógão Grande, on 18 June 2017, causing a number of deaths and casualties.

          In this moment of bereavement, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, and through you, to the families of the victims
of this terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Portugal during this difficult time.
