Following the official statement by Right Honourable Theresa May delivered on 11 May 2017 to form the new British Government after the 2017 general election, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs sent Messages of Congratulations to the Right Honourable Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the Right Honourable Boris Johnson, Secretary of State of the United Kingdom as follows:

1. Message of Congratulations from H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Right Honourable Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Right Honourable Prime Minister,

          On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to extend my sincere congratulations on your re-election as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

          This past year, the partnership between Thailand and the United Kingdom has advanced significantly. Trade and investment exchanges continue to excel in both directions and remain at the forefront of our enduring bilateral ties. With this sustained momentum of cooperation, I look forward to working closely with you to further enhance the unique and constructive linkages between our two countries for the mutual benefits of our peoples and our regions.

          I wish you every success as you lead the United Kingdom towards a prosperous and dynamic future.

          Thailand and the United Kingdom have enjoyed four centuries of friendship on the basis of shared values and economic interest. Remarkable progress has been made and should be continued in mutually beneficial areas such as trade and investment exchanges, education, defense and consular cooperation.
