On 2 June 2017, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Foundation of Islamic Center of Thailand co – hosted the Iftar Dinner for the diplomatic corps from Muslim countries in Thailand, Islamic scholars and religious leaders, as well as prominent figures from the Thai Muslim Community at the Foundation of Islamic Center of Thailand.
On this occasion, the Foreign Minister presented a contribution of 200,000 baht from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Mr. Samart Maluleem, President of Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand, in support of the Iftar Dinner. In his welcome remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the Ministry attaches importance to strengthening the relations between Thailand and Muslim countries and to supporting Islamic affairs and the Thai Muslim community.
Iftar Dinner is an evening meal when Muslims break their fasts during the Holy month of Ramadan. It holds a special spiritual value to all Muslims. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand, has hosted the Iftar Dinner annually since 2009 so as to promote good relations between the Muslim diplomatic corps and the Muslim community in Thailand. This year, members of the Muslim diplomatic corps in Thailand from 20 countries and 250 prominent figures and distinguished guests of the Muslim Thai community attended the event.
