        General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain on 24 – 26 April 2017. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Commerce, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Minister of Public Health, and the Secretary – General of the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI). This visit will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to the Middle East. The visit will also mark the auspicious occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Bahrain.

        The purpose of the visit is to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two Kingdoms and to enhance cooperation in key areas such as politics, economics, public health, and social cooperation, as well as to exchange views on regional issues. During the visit, the Prime Minister of Thailand will have an audience with His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and a bilateral meeting with His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The two Prime Ministers will also witness the signing ceremony of three documents namely: (1) the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Agriculture Cooperation, (2) the Protocol amending the Convention between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, and (3) the Memorandum of Understanding between Prince of Songkla University and University of Bahrain.
