               H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, received H.E. Mr. Xia Baolong, Party Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress,   the People’s Republic of China,
who led a delegation from Zhejiang Province, both from the government and the business sector, to visit Thailand from 5 – 8 April 2017 as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

             During their meeting at the Ministry, both sides discussed a wide range of cooperation between Thailand and Zhejiang, including trade, investment, tourism, education, as well as exchange of visit at all levels, particularly on people-to-people linkages.

            Zhejiang is an important province located in the Yangxi River Delta Economic Zone of China. With many major ports, the province is ranked 4th in terms of international trade. A number of prominent businesses in China are located in Zhejiang, such as Alibaba Group. Zhejiang businesses also actively invest overseas. Thailand is now receiving a number of FDI from Zhejiang, particularly at the Thai – Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone.

           This is Mr. Xia’s first visit to Thailand, and also the first visit of Zhejiang’s top leader in years. During the stay in Thailand, Mr. Xia also visited Rayong Province, a Friendly Exchange City of Zhejiang. The delegation visited Zhejiang’s businesses in the province and also met with the Governor of Rayong Province. They also witnessed the signing of Cooperation Agreement between Sister Schools by Zhejiang Institute of Communications and Mattayom Taksin Rayong School. While in Bangkok, Mr. Xia also attended the opening ceremony of Zhejiang Tourism Week at the China Cultural Center in Bangkok and visited the Kung Jek Association of Thailand.
