Following Mrs. Carrie Lam’s election as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 26 March 2017, H.E. Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs sent congratulatory messages to the Chief Executive of  the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as follows:

                 On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I have the honour to extend to you my sincere congratulations on your being elected as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

                 Thailand and the Hong Kong SAR have long enjoyed cordial and close relations, and I am confident that, under your able leadership, the Hong Kong SAR will continue to play a leading role as a preeminent financial and trading center in the region. I look forward to further promoting closer cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Hong Kong SAR at the bilateral, regional, and international levels.                  With your years of vast experience in the Hong Kong Government, I have full confidence that, under your leadership, the Hong Kong SAR will play an even more active role in the region and beyond.
