On 20 November 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa organized a special ceremony in an expression of loyalty and profound gratitude to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Aduyadej, on the occasion of His Majesty's 89th Birthday Anniversary, at the Ambassador’s Residence.

            His Excellency Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, presided over the ceremony by leading the Embassy officials and the Thai community in the pledging of an oath of allegiance before the portrait of the late King, followed by the singing of the Thai Royal Anthem in unison. The ceremony also included a nine-minute meditation period as a way to pay tribute to the beloved King Bhumibol Aduyadej, the ninth King of the ruling Chakri Dynasty, who graciously devoted His remarkable 70-year long reign for the benefit of the Thai people.
