On 21 October 2016, the Honorable John F. Kerry, Secretary of State of the United States of America came to sign the Book of Condolences for the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on behalf of President Barack Obama and the American people at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.
