On 18 October 2016, the Honorable Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States of America came to sign the Book of Condolences for the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on behalf of President Barack Obama and the American people at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Vice President Biden expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the Embassy’s officials and stressed the close and long-standing friendship between the United States and Thailand.
