On 15 September 2016, His Excellency Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand and spouse, along with Head of Offices under Team Thailand Committee in Canberra and Embassy’s officials, attended a reception to celebrate the 49th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).  The said event was co-hosted by the Heads of Mission of ASEAN Canberra Committee (ACC) at the Old Parliament House in Canberra. His Excellency Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, Ambassador of Viet Nam and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra, and Senator the Honourable George Brandis QC, Attorney-General for Australia delivered the opening speeches. Participants included representatives of the 10 ASEAN member countries, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of government and private sectors in Australia.
