Thailand will host the 10th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) between Thailand and Cambodia on 25 – 26 August 2016 at St. Regis Hotel, Bangkok, where H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia will lead a delegation at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand to attend the JC Meeting in Bangkok.

This JC Meeting will be a platform for the two sides to follow up the outcomes of the discussion between the Prime Ministers of the two countries, during the official visit to Thailand of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the 2nd Thailand – Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) during 18 – 19 December 2015 in Thailand.  At this Meeting, both sides aim to discuss three main areas of cooperation, namely, political and security issues, economic issues, and socio-cultural issues, including the development of infrastructure and transport connectivity, the upgrading of the border checkpoints, as well as the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, energy, labour, agriculture and the environment. Both sides also plan to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Transit and Reception Centre for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups, after the meeting on 26 August 2016.

The two Foreign Ministers will hold a joint press conference after the meeting. (around 11.30 am.) Then, the Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Cambodia is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand in the afternoon before returning to Cambodia in the evening.

Established in 1994, the Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia has been an important mechanism in the promotion of Thailand – Cambodia relations. The previous Meeting was hosted by Cambodia during15 – 16 January 2015 in Siem Reap.
