            On the occasion of the 7th Cycle or 84th Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Kingdom of Thailand on 12 August 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy invited Thai nationals including their families who live in Sri Lanka to celebrate this auspicious occasion at the Kingsbury Hotel on Sunday 14 August 2016 at 11.00-13.30 hours.  His Excellency Veerapol Tungsuwan, President of the Supreme Court of Thailand who came to Colombo for meetings and his wife participated in this special event as Chief guests of the Royal Thai Embassy. 
            His Excellency Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, on behalf of the Thai community in Sri Lanka, took this opportunity to salute Her Majesty the Queen, followed by singing of the Royal Anthem and Sadudi Maha   Raja song.  The Ambassador also gave remarks on Her Majesty the Queen’s life and works which was dedicated to improve the standard of living of the Thai people, especially those who live in the rural areas.  This is the reason why Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s birth anniversary is regarded as Mother’s Day for the Thai people. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s work has been recognized by both the Thai people and the international community.  Several universities, international organizations and institutions presented Her Majesty Queen Sirikit honourary degrees, medals and certificates for Her Majesty   the Queen’s work.
