On 10 August 2016, Ambassador Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, and Mrs. Wannipa Isarabhakdi hosted a reception at Ottawa City Hall to celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 12th August 2016.
On this occasion, Ambassador Vijavat paid tribute, in his remarks, to the countless contributions of Her Majesty the Queen to the people of Thailand. Her Majesty has not only dedicated her life accompanying and supporting His Majesty the King’s work and visions but also initiated many projects to enhance the quality of life of the Thai people.  Ambassador Vijavat also proposed a toast to express well wishes to Her Majesty and to long-lasting relations between Canada and Thailand.
Among the many distinguished guests attending the ceremony were senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, distinguished scholars, friends of Thailand from various professional backgrounds, and members of the Thai community.
During the candle-lighting ceremony, members of the Thai community all joined in to express their loyalty and birthday wishes to Her Majesty the Queen on her 84th Birthday Anniversary. As a tribute to the loving Mother of the Nation, several other activities were conducted at the reception. Among the highlights was a display of Thai handicrafts created by the SUPPORT Foundation, one of the many initiatives under Her Majesty’s patronage. There was also a classical Thai dance performance by the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa (TDO) in recognition of Her Majesty’s devotion to cultural promotion and preservation.
