On 6-8 August 2016, Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in Singapore organized the Royal Revival of Thai Silk Exhibition to celebrate on the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 12th August 2016 at the Royal Thai Embassy, Orchard Road.

            At the event, there are Her Majesty the Queen’s exhibitions demonstrating her royal duties in promoting Thai textiles and other related information about Thai silk and other Thai textiles. Furthermore, there is a fashion show of the formal Thai national costumes (Thai dress of royal endorsement) and also Thai silk evening dresses.

            The Royal Thai Embassy has invited Dr. Anucha Thirakanont, Chairman of Thai Khadi Research Institute, Thammasat University to give a Special Lecture on the Royal Revival of Thai Silk. In additions, video presentations about Her Majesty the Queen’s royal duties and the production and weaving process of Thai silk are shown. Some publications about Her Majesty the Queen and the background information about Thai silk are also given to more than 1,000 guests who attended during 3 days of the event.

             During the opening reception, the lecture by Dr. Anucha and the fashion show of Thai silk by Miss Thailand 2015 are highly impressed by more than 300 guests who attended the event. These included high-level Singaporean officers, diplomatic corps in Singapore, designers and owners of textile companies, local media and Thai people in Singapore. They are very impressed with Her Majesty the Queen’s royal grace to her people and her dedication in promoting Thai silk and other Thai textiles. The beauty of Thai silk and its identity were widely appreciated among the audience from this event.
