On 15th July 2016, Taiwan’s authorities launched a one-year trial visa-exemption programme for Thai ordinary passport holders who wish to visit Taiwan for tourism purpose, effective from 1st August 2016. Those eligible will now be able to travel and stay in Taiwan for up to 30 days. Thai nationals who wish to take advantage of this visa-free privilege must: (1) hold a Thai ordinary passport with 6 months minimum validity; (2) hold a return ticket or an onward ticket to another destination; and (3) not be considered an inadmissible person.

With the abovementioned visa-exemption announcement, Thai ordinary passport holders are now able to travel visa-free to 26 countries and 3 economies, namely Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Full list of countries and economies where Thai nationals may enter without a visa can be obtained from Department of Consular Affairs’ website (www.consular.go.th) under the banner "Countries/Region that Thai Nationals can travel without visa"
