As a follow up to the mandate received at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in February to coordinate the promotion of complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, presented a Progress Report on this important issue to the Plenary Session of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM). The Progress Report outlines ideas on how to enhance such complementarities, possible priority areas, and work plans for 2016 and 2017.

ASEAN Member States welcomed Thailand’s efforts on this important issue and proposal to hold a special session of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting dedicated to the issue of sustainable development in New York at the sidelines of the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in September 2016.

Thailand’s coordinatorship on promoting complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a reflection of an enduring commitment to pursuing an inclusive and people-centred ASEAN Community, where no one is left behind and everyone has a stake.
