            On 15 June 2016, His Excellency Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, met with Honourable Mr. Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka, and Mr. Kathiramalai Yoganathan, a representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, to hand over a bank draft at the amount of 10,390,689.94 Sri Lankan rupees (or approximately 2,500,000 baht) which is the donation from the Royal Thai Government to the Sri Lankan Government as a disaster relief for the victims of the recent flood and landslides in May 2016 in Sri Lanka.
            On this occasion, Honourable Yapa extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Royal Thai Government for kind assistance and sympathy for the affected people in this tragedy, and stated that the priority task of the Sri Lankan Government is to reconstruct the affected areas, especially building new houses for around 5,000 families who lost their home. In this regard, the Thai Government’s donation will be put in the fund to be used for building new houses for these people.
