Brazil – Thailand : Business Ties are Strengthen

          During 22 – 30 May 2015, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Thai Ambassador to Brazil led Brazilian businesspersons in the field of agricultural and commodity products, together with a media to Thailand. The group paid courtesy calls on two Ministers as well as visited related governmental agencies and some private sectors. They also attended two significant events which were (1) the seminar on trade and investment promotion entitled  “Brazil's Insight : Trade and Investment Opportunities”, which was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia, and (2) the ThaiFex 2016 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok.      
          During the visit, the Ambassador and the Brazilian Delegations paid courtesy calls on H.E. Dr. Atchaka Sibunruang, Minister of Industry and H.E.  Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and Ministry of Commerce. The honorable Ministers extended warm welcome to the delegations and expressed support for economic cooperation as well as trade and investment boost between Thailand and Brazil, especially in the agricultural and commodities sectors between the two countries. 
          Mr. Ambassador also led the Brazilian Delegations to meet and discuss with Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and a number of high-level management of top Thailand businesses. The Brazilian delegations also had first hand experiences by visiting the company and its factory. They visited Charoen Pokphand (CPF) factory in Nong Jok, the suburban of Bangkok, to learn about the food processing process.  
          At the end of the visit, they made their excursion to Krabi Province to seek for cooperation in the Halal industry sector. H.E. Mr. Pinit Boonlert, the Governor of Krabi Province and leading local businesses cordially extended their welcome to the delegations. Successfully, both side held a constructive talk to further enhance the collaboration on trade and investment and on the idea of establishing the sister cities between  Krabi province and Florianopolis, the capital city of the state of Santa Catarina, the idea of which was initiated by the Thai Ambassador to Brazil.   
          The outcome of the visit will help strengthen not only the collaboration of agricultural products, but also the increase of trade in commodity-related business between the two countries in line with the aim of Thailand’s economic diplomacy by promoting the creative economic development and increasing the country’s competitiveness.
