On 9 June 2016, Ambassador Vijavat and Mrs. Wannipa Isarabhakdi presided over a special ceremony organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa, on the auspicious occasion of the Seventieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the King of Thailand’s Accession to the Throne. The ceremony took place at Ratchadhamviriyaram 1 Temple in Ottawa.
In his remarks on behalf of the Thai community in Canada, Ambassador Vijavat expressed profound gratitude to His Majesty for all that he has done for the country and the Thai people during his long reign, and wished His Majesty good health, happiness, and long life. The ceremony also included a religious service and merit making, in which many members of the Thai community in Ottawa and surrounding areas took part, all wearing yellow, His Majesty’s birthday colour, in honour of the King.
The celebrations united Thai people in Canada and across the world as a way of showing their immense appreciation to the world’s longest reigning monarch, who has truly reigned with righteousness for the benefit and happiness of the Thai people, as His Majesty stated he would do, on the day he ascended the Throne 70 years ago.
