H.E. General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, Prime Minister, will visit Singapore deliver a keynote speech at the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 15th Asia Security Summit on 3 June 2016 at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Dialogue. This is the first time that a Thai leader is invited to deliver a keynote speech in the Dialogue, which is the only high-level platform on regional security attended by international leaders, defense ministers, and senior officers on security.

In the Dialogue, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote speech on the Thailand’s perceptions on security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, which will set the tone of the dialogue in the following days. The theme of the speech of Prime Minister will focus on the importance of security as a foundation of prosperity and stability, and that sustainable security should comprise military and development dimensions. Thailand is ready to share experiences on “security for development” and contribute constructively to the building of a sustainable security in the region.

Before the Dialogue, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a Tea Reception hosted by the Prime Minister of Singapore at the Istana, the Office of the President of Singapore.

The Government of Singapore, together with the IISS, have organized the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue since 1999 to serve as a high-level platform on regional security issues of Asia-Pacific region. In the past, the Munich Security Conference was the only platform to discuss security issues concerning the US and Europe. The Shangri-La Dialogue is named after the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, the venue of the Dialogue.
