On 18 May 2016, H.E. Mr. Robert Harutyunyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, met with H.E. Mr. Panyarak Poolthup, Deputy Permanent Secretary, during his visit to Thailand to attend the 72nd Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) between 17 - 18 May 2016. Mr. Arto Artinaian, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Thailand, also attended the meeting.

Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in trade, investment, and tourism, whereby the Armenian side will encourage Armenian businesses to explore business opportunities in Thailand and provide more access for the Thai private sector in Armenia. Furthermore, both sides will also exchange business information such as the list of trade exhibitions and the list of agricultural products in order to enhance a deeper understanding of each other’s markets. This will serve to promote the channels for the distribution of products between Thailand and Armenia.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Harutyunyan proposed projects to help promote a better understanding of Armenia in Thailand, namely; (1) encouraging entrepreneurs in the Thai tourism industry to visit Armenia in order for operators to meet and exchange experiences, expertise, and know-how in medical tourism with their Armenian counterparts, and (2) encouraging Thai journalists to visit Armenia so that they may have an opportunity to produce documentaries about Armenia. H.E. Mr. Harutyunyan also expressed his intention to promote further bilateral cooperation under Armenia’s open skies aviation policy.
