Thai cuisine, a globally popular food with its unique characteristics and rich of flavors, hit at the 2nd Thai Halal Food Festival at six LuLu Hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia, during 5-14 May 2016, initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy. A huge variety of Thai quality food products and ingredients directly imported from Thailand was showcased for both local importers and regular shoppers who enjoy healthy food like Thai cuisine. 

            Mr. Danai Menabhodi, Charge d’Affaire of Thailand and Mr. Shehim P. Kottilingal, Regional Director LuLu Saudi Hypermarkets L.L.C. jointly inaugurated the Festival at LuLu Saudi Hypermarkets, Riyadh Avenue Mall, on Thursday 5th May 2016. Local officials, diplomatic corps, media and businessmen participated in this auspicious fair along with Thai food’s lovers who could taste some famous dishes like Phad Thai (Thai Stir-fried Noodle) and Som Tum (Papaya Salad). 

            Royal Thai Embassy and Consulate-General both in Riyadh and Jeddah respectively, in  cooperation with Thai Trade Center in Jeddah, have attempted in promoting Thailand as a “Kitchen of the World” among Saudis friends and foreigners in Saudi Arabia. Local importers are also encouraged to contact with leading Thai food companies or even participating in THAIFEX-World Food of Asia 2016, to experience one of the most important world-class food-industry exhibitions in Asia, to be held from 25-29 May 2016 in Bangkok (www.thailandfoodfair.com).
