          On 28 April 2016, H.E. Mr. Suvat Chirapant, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handed over the Ministry’s contribution of 200,000 Baht to support the “Maulid Nabi Celebration A.H. 1437” to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, President of the Maulid Nabi Celebration Organizing Committee. The handover ceremony was attended by executives and officials from the Foreign Ministry, as well as members of the Organizing Committee.

          On this occasion, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs reiterated the importance that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches to Islamic affairs and the Thai Muslim community. This includes support for the Haj affairs, education of Thai Muslim youths, the welfare and activities of Thai Muslim students abroad, as well as Islamic economic activities and the Halal industry. Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has sent a congratulatory message to be published in commemoration of the Maulid Nabi Celebration A.H. 1437 (2016).

          Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for the continued support of the Ministry for Islamic affairs. He also affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in all areas of Islamic affairs.

          Maulid Nabi Celebration in Thailand had its first inception since 1961. The Celebration is an annual event to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, and to laud and recall his preaching and practices. This year, the Maulid Nabi Celebration will be held between 30 April – 2 May 2016, at the Golden Jubilee of Islamic Affairs National Administration Center, Bangkok.
