          Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is scheduled to visit Thailand between 1 – 2 May 2016, at the invitation of the Thai side. This will be the first visit by a Japanese Foreign Minister in 5 years while Thailand will be the first country in Southeast Asia that the Japanese Foreign Minister has chosen to visit.

            During the visit, Mr. Kishida is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the evening of 1 May 2016. Both sides will exchange views on a wide range of issues, including economic cooperation, regional security matters, as well as cooperation within the UN and ASEAN frameworks.

            Following the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers will sign the Memorandum of Intent (MOI) between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of Japan on Deepening the Cooperation in Agriculture and its Related Areas. After the signing ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will host a dinner in honor of Mr. Kishida and his delegation.

            On 2 May 2016, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan will pay courtesy calls on General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister.
