On 27 April 2016, Mrs. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Center, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Virasak Futrakul, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, during her working visit to Thailand between 26-29 April 2016. The meeting served as a good opportunity for both sides to exchange views on how to foster more cooperation between the relevant agencies in Thailand and the ASEAN-China Center, namely the cooperation on activities to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations as well as the Year of Educational Exchange between ASEAN and China.

The Secretary-General highlighted the role of the Center on building awareness on ASEAN among Chinese public. Since established in 2011, the Center has successfully overseen approximately 110 projects, among which 19 are ongoing projects in 2016.

The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs is pleased to see more robust interaction between ASEAN and China especially at the people-to-people level, and stressed the significant role of the ASEAN-China Center in promoting public understanding between the people of both sides to ensure smooth and harmonious interaction.

The ASEAN-China Center is an inter-governmental organization established on 18 November 2011 with a view to promote ASEAN awareness among Chinese public in such areas as trade, investment, cultural exchanges, tourism, education, and public relations.
