On 23 April 2016 Ambassador Vijavat and Mrs. Wannipa Isarabhakdi along with the Royal Thai Embassy’s officials and staff attended the Thai New Year celebration, also known as Songkran Day, organized by the Thai Association of Ottawa (TAO) at Tom Brown Arena. 

            On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy made a contribution in the amount of $1,000.- CAD in support of the Thai Association of Ottawa’s activities. Moreover, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau graciously sent his congratulatory message to Thais living in Canada, stating that it was a wonderful opportunity for them to share their rich heritage with the wider Canadian community. 

            The event welcomed more than 300 Thais, Asians and Canadians who came to celebrate the joyous occasion which was filled with a variety of entertainment, tradition, and delicious Thai food. The success of the event marks an excellent beginning to the Thai New Year.
