On Sunday 17th April 2016, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand and spouse attended the Songkran Festival at Thai Buddharam Temple in Brisbane. The Ambassador presided over the religious ceremony in the morning and Songkran festival in the afternoon. There were various religious activities such as ceremony of the pouring water onto Buddha image and Buddhist monks, pouring water to elders, praying and offering meal to monks, offering food, making the sand pagodas. Participants also enjoyed Thai cultural and music performances, Thai boxing show, Miss Songkran and Songkran Junior beauty contest, Thai food stalls and handicrafts stalls. More than 10,000 Thais and foreigners participated in this event.
