Following the 7.8 magnitude quake which struck the Republic of Ecuador on 16 April 2016, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Rafael Corea, President of the Republic of Ecuador, while H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Guillaume Long, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador, as follows:

 

Message of Condolences from General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to H.E. Mr. Rafael Corea, President of the Republic of Ecuador:

Excellency,

           On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, I would like to extend my deep condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Government of the Republic of Ecuador and all the Ecuadorian citizens who lost their relatives, friends and loved ones, and those affected by the earthquake which struck the country on 16 April 2016. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ecuadorian people, and Thailand stands ready to assist Ecuador during this difficult time.

          I was saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives and great damage caused by the earthquake which hit the northwestern coastal areas of Ecuador on 16 April 2016. I wish to convey to Your Excellency and, through you, to those affected by the dreadful disaster, the Thai people’s sincere sympathy and condolences. Thailand stands ready to help Ecuador to overcome this hard time and to recover soonest.
