During 29 – 30 March 2016 H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand together with the chefs and performers from Suan Dusit University, Thailand, organized  Thai food promotion and cultural performances in São Paulo, namely a Thai food cooking class and a Thai night reception of “Tailândia : sensações e sabores” or the Tastes and Touches of Thailand.
On 29 March 2016, the Embassy and Thai Trade Center in São Paulo               co-organized the Thai cooking demonstration for interested Brazilians. Three famous Thai dishes were demonstrated, i.e. (1) Thai beef green curry (2) Phad Thai and (3) Water chestnut in coconut milk. The participants have the opportunities not only to see the Thai cooking demonstration, but also to cook their own foods by themselves.
On 30 March 2016, the Embassy together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s office in Los Angelis, Thai Trade Center in São Paulo and Thai Honorary Consul in São Paulo co-organized a splendid night of “Tailândia : sensações e sabores” in Tivoli Mofarrej Hotel, São Paulo. More than 200 people from both government and private sectors as well as press and media participated in the event.
The Thai Ambassador warmly welcomed all guests with the congratulatory remarks to Cantu Group that has introduced Thai Singha Beer to the Brazilian market. He wished that this famous Thai beer would gain a firm footing in Brazil. The Thai Ambassador also wished the participants, in advance, all the best for Thai traditional New Year and strongly encouraged them to visit Thailand during the festival to experience the tastes and the touches of Thailand.
This special reception was remarkably remembered as all the guests happily tried Thai foods and saw Thai traditional dances. Some Thai products, such as Singha Beer and cooking ingredients as well as tourism promotion materials were also displayed.
The Embassy continuously promotes Thai food and ingredients under the “Kitchen of the World” policy. This event has successfully raised awareness about Thai food and culture among Brazilians in São Paulo and beyond. It is hopeful that this event could lead to higher importation of Thai food products into Brazilian market.
