On 29 March 2016, Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted and presided over the opening ceremony of a reception celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and New Zealand at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Almost 300 guests attended the event, including H.E. Mr. Ben King, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand, senior officials, diplomatic corps, dignitaries from public and private sector, and members of the media.
The event featured various activities to mark the milestone of bilateral relations between both countries. The highlight was the photo exhibition depicting the historic Royal visit of their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to New Zealand in 1962 and the cultural shows from both sides. The official winning logo from the contest under the theme “Thailand-New Zealand, Looking to the Future” was also announced during the reception.
The anniversary reception was a good opportunity to celebrate the close and long standing relation between Thailand and New Zealand, built over many years and to demonstrate the commitment of both sides to continue to strengthen and enhance the bond of friendship in the future.
