On 28 February – 2 March 2016, H.E. Surasak Chuasukonthip along with Ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Viet Nam conducted together the ASEAN Ambassadors’ Roadshow to the States of Jalisco and Colima, in Mexico. The objective of the visit is to promote trade and investment opportunities in ASEAN to Mexican businesses. Moreover, the ASEAN Ambassadors met with local governments and chambers of commerce to strengthen ties and discuss cooperation in economic, education, science and technology and cultural exchanges.

 

            During “the ASEAN Forum: Business Opportunities for Mexico” held at the Chamber of Commerce of Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, about 100 businessmen attended the event. Guadalajara’s economy is the third largest in Mexico and stands out as the Gateway to Asia, thanks to its strategic location by the Pacific Coast, excellent infrastructure, and openness to international trade. Guadalajara is also a center for international trade fairs, including Expo Antad & Alimentaria (www.expoantad.net). Major industries of Jalisco are IT, pharmaceuticals, automotive and food processing, for instance.

 

           The ASEAN Ambassadors visited the Port of Manzanillo which is the major port in trade between Asia and Mexico.
