On 7 march 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy hosted a reception on the occasion of the Handing Over of the Uniforms of Phraya Chonlayutthayothin (Vice Admiral Andreas du Plessis de Richelieu) to the Royal Thai Navy.

 

           Mr. Andres Hastrup, a great-grandson of Phraya Chonlayutthayothin handed over 5 uniforms to a representative of the Royal Thai Navy, Captain NarongJongrakphuban, Defense and Naval Attache to London and Naval Attache to Copenhagen. These uniforms will be exhibited at the Naval Museum in Thailand.

 

            Phraya Chonlayutthayothinwas a Danish naval officer who became the first and only foreign Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy between 1900-1901.He also played a significant role in Paknam Incidentin 1893 and laid the foundation for the present Royal Thai Navy.
