1. Thailand wishes to express its deep regrets upon learning on 7 February 2016 of the launch of a long range rocket, declared as an earth observation satellite, by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) which was a clear violation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

2. Such act demonstrates a disregard for the international community’s concerns over the DPRK’s continued nuclear programme, which has been a grave threat to international peace and security.

3. Thailand reiterates its position of January 6, 2016, in urging the DPRK to halt its nuclear programme, and in calling upon an early resumption of the Six-Party talks.

4. Thailand attaches great importance to the building of peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and thus stands ready to support and continue to fully abide by the relevant UNSC resolutions.
