On Friday 11 December 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm organized “Bike for Dad” to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 88th Birthday Anniversary at Rålambshovsparken in Stockholm. Mr. Kiattikhun Chartprasert, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, and his spouse, Heads of Thai offices in Sweden, together with the Embassy’s officials and staffs, members of the Thai community in Sweden and their families, as well as Swedish people, totaling 113 people participated in the event.
At 10.30 hrs., Ambassador Kiattikhun presided over the ceremony to pay homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Later, he and his spouse led the participants to ride bicycles from Rålambshovsparken along Riddarfjärden lake to Stadshuskajen (City hall port) where they stopped to take group photos against the background of the City Hall. Then, they rode back to the starting point with a total distance of 4 kilometers and had lunch together.
Despite of the cold weather of the winter which on that day dropped to below 5 degree celcius, many Thai people and their families living in Stockholm and nearby areas participated in the said event. They came together in large numbers for the same purpose – to express gratitude to their beloved and revered monarch. Those who attended the event also had an opportunity to extend their blessings to His Majesty the King in a book, to be sent to Thailand afterwards.
