On 21 December 2015, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was the host for “A Thai Cultural Evening in Singapore, celebrating 50th Anniversary of Thailand – Singapore Diplomatic Relations”, at Victoria Theatre, Singapore. The event is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Thai Foundation. In this occasion, H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore and spouse, diplomatic corps, governmental and non-governmental representatives, and Thai community also attended the event.
H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, gave an opening remarks on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stating that the event is held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Singapore and also a gift from the Thais to the Singaporeans for a long-standing and close relations. Furthermore, both countries have frequently exchanged High Level visits. The performance featured the following; The Classical Dance Troupe of Thailand, Khon Ramakien: Episode of “Rama and Thotskan in Combat” (Yok Rob), Dance of the Four Regions and The Thailand – Singapore Relations special show, which received a very positive feedback.
Moreover, Minister of Foreign Affairs had an opportunity to visit NEWater facility, which was formed in 1999, under Singapore's Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. NEWater facilities purified 90 percent of used water and rainwater via Reverse Osmosis (RO), which resulted in high quality water. NEWater is also proposing action plans to conserve water, by promoting public awareness to conserve water and keep water clean. In addition, the facilities supports the research on Biometric Membrane purification method, which will help to reduce the energy consumption during water treatment process.
After that, the Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). The organization aimed to effectively leverage technology for economic and social development, to improve Singaporean’s well-being. IDA is promoting the vision of SMART Nations, using communication technology to collect relative data, which will improve feasibilities in government’s working process and people’s daily lives.
