Mr. Daniel Russel led the U.S. delegation in the 5th Thailand-U.S. Strategic Dialogue during his second visit to Thailand this year. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on 16 December 2015.

Both sides discussed Thai-U.S. bilateral relations in 2015, which reached higher dynamics as a result of frequent meetings between both sides. These include close cooperation with the new U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, and the visits to Thailand by high level U.S. officials, particulary in the second half of 2015. The 5th Thailand-U.S. Strategic Dialogue underscored the determination to cooperate on various issues, as well as the determination to enhance Thai-U.S. relations in all dimensions, whether in security, economy, and people to people relations such as science and technology research, medical science, and public health. Both sides looked forward to the future based on the close and historic relations of over 182 years between Thailand and the U.S. The U.S. side emphasized their desire to see Thailand successfully reform the country in all aspects in order to once again play a strong role in the region, as Thailand has always done.
