Reception to Celebrate the 88th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Thailand

            On 4 December 2015, 18.30 hrs, the Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, hosted the Reception to celebrate the 87th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Thailand, at Hilton Singapore. The event was joined by H.E. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, as the Guest of Honour. It was well attended by approximately 500 guests, including Dr. Chia Shi Lu, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, and Mr. Edwin Tong, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC, RADM Timothy Lo, Head of Naval Operations Department, and high-level representatives from organisations and agencies in Singapore, ambassadors and diplomats, as well as representatives from the Thai private sector in Singapore.  
 
            On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore delivered a speech on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s life-time dedication to the peoples of Thailand, and close bilateral relations between Thailand and Singapore, which have been further strengthened in 2015 as Thailand and Singapore celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In response to Ambassador’s speech, Mr. Lim Hng Kiang reaffirmed the close relationship between the two countries, including exchange of visits, as well as economic and social cooperation. 
 
            The event featured a special exhibition on His Majesty the King’s royal projects and life-time dedication to the peoples of Thailand, with a book of well wishing for our guests to sign. It also included a demonstration of how to make a Thai dessert called “Lookchoop”, presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Singapore. The reception was complemented with the royal songs composed by His Majesty the King of Thailand, graciously performed by the Thai renowned saxophonist, Koh, Mr. Saxman, and his band “The Sound of Siam,” who flew to Singapore just for the Reception, as well as the finest selection of Thai food from 5 Thai restaurants in Singapore, and from Ambassador’s Residence.
