On 3 December 2015, H.E. Mr. Veali Vagi, Ambassador of Papua New Guinea to Thailand (with residence in Kuala Lumpur), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the completion of his tour of duty in Thailand.

The Foreign Minister and the Ambassador underscored the close and cordial relations between both sides. The Foreign Minister expressed his commitment to providing supports to Papua New Guinea as follows: (1) the exchange of visits with Papua New Guinea at all levels. (2) The ratifications of three accords including the MOU on Fishery Cooperation, the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement, and the Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement.  (3) Promotion of trade and investment (Papua New Guinea is Thailand’s largest trading partner among the Pacific Islands and has the capacity to enhance further trade cooperation. In this regards, Thailand encouraged Papua New Guinea businessmen to visit Thailand in order to explore areas for further cooperation in terms of trade and investment.) (4) Development assistance such as scholarship grants for higher education and training in various fields especially horticulture and fishery. (5) Support Papua New Guinea in the international community such as the hosting of APEC Summit 2018 and the membership of Asean Community in the future.
