On 25 November 2558, Mr. Suvat Chirapant, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, hosted a Celebratory Reception on the 65th Anniversary of Thailand – Indonesia Diplomatic Relations at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also attending were H.E. Lutfi Rauf, Ambassador of Indonesia to Thailand, members of diplomatic corps, dignitaries from public and private sector, and members of the press.
During the Reception, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Ambassador exchanged local-language version of the novel “Ghosts”, authored by Senee Saowaphong, National Artist of Thailand, and the novel “Sukreni Gadis Bali”, authored by Anak Agung Pandji Tisna, as a part of the commemorative activities for the 65th Anniversary of diplomatic relations. Moreover, both sides participated in “Tumpeng”, traditional Indonesian ceremony reserved for an important occasion and reflected deep respect that both sides have toward
each other.
The reception was well-received, with support from various organizations. The Bunditpatanasilpa, under the Ministry of Culture, organized a Thai cultural show while the Embassy of Indonesia organizied an Art exhibition under the theme of “Thailand and Indonesia in My Mind”, showing the award-winning paintings by Thai and Indonesian youths.
Thailand and Indonesia enjoyed long standing close and cordial relations, which have developed into a comprehensive partnership covering all areas of cooperation in both bilateral and multi-lateral aspects. Both countries play an important role in creating a strong and prosperous ASEAN Community, as well as supporting each other under the United Nations Framework. Moreover, Thailand has always received favorable support from Indonesia on promoting cooperation with Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
