On 17 November 2015, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudvinai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with his Australian counterpart, H.E. Mr. Julie Bishop, during the 27th APEC Ministerial Meeting in Manila, the Philippines. This bilateral meeting was a good opportunity for both sides to underscore their cordial and constructive relations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed his Australian counterpart on the latest development of Thailand’s reform process and road map. Both sides discussed the exchange of high-level visits, including state-level ministers from South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. The Thai side looked forward to the upcoming visit of the Australian Minister of Trade who will lead a business delegation to enhance trade and investment. The Thai Foreign Minister encouraged the Australian private sector to invest in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), super clusters and other economic sectors in Thailand while the Australian Foreign Minister also encouraged the Thai business sector to invest in the northern part of Australia. They also agreed to enhance their cooperation on education, creative economy and the New Colombo Plan.
