H.E. Mr. Apichart Chinwanno, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba on 6 November 2015 during the First Deputy Minister’s first visit to Thailand between 5-7 November 2015.  

Both sides had fruitful discussion on strengthening bilateral relations between Thailand and Cuba in various areas, especially in trade and investment. Both sides also agreed to develop closer technical cooperation in the areas of public health, bio-pharmaceutical science, agriculture, tourism, renewable energy and sports, in which both sides share expertise and common interests.

In this occasion, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba delivered an invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to pay an official visit to Cuba.

The Permanent Secretary also took the opportunity to congratulate on the positive development in the bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States as well as the reciprocal re-opening of their respective Embassies in Washington D.C. and Havana.
