During 13 – 15 September 20015, Mr. Olan Pituck, Director – General of Department of Agricultural Extension, Associate Professor Dr. BanchaKwanyuen, Acting President of Kasetsart University and delegatesfrom the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Thailand and professors from Kasetsart University visited Brasiliato promote bilateral and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture between Brazil and Thailand. 

 

During the visit, H.E. Mr. PitchayaphantCharnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil led theThai delegation to have meetings with many relevant agencies as follows 

            (1) Brazilian Agency for the International Cooperation (ABC) to follow up the Plan of Action for Bilateral and Trilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Brazil.

            (2) EMBRAPA Headquarter in Cerrado with a site visit on plantation of Palm trees, integrated crop-livestock-forest systems and the field of soil fertility and plant cover.

            (3) National Supply Company  (CONAB) under the Ministry Agricultural, Livestock and Food Supplies of Brazil (MAPA) to exchange views on the price guarantee of Brazilian agricultural products.

            (4) Meetings with various agencies at the Thai Embassy on finding the way to facilitate importation of Thai orchids in Brazil, exportation of seafood from Thailand to Brazil and the exportation of beef and chicken from Brazil to Thailand as well as the presentation of the economic and agricultural potential of the state of Bahia.

 

            The visit was successful as the Thai side expressed interest in having cooperation in various fields including researches and exchanges of scholars with some Brazilian agencies such as EMBRAPA and ABC.
