The Deputy Permanent Secretary meets the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Thailand

         On 8 October 2015 Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 
met H.E. Mr. Lutfi Rauf, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Thailand, and expressed Thailand’s
concern on the haze pollution from the Sumatra island which has caused weeks of unhealthy haze in Southeast Asia 
including seven provinces in the Southern Region of Thailand. Ambassador Rauf expressed his understanding 
and sympathy for those affected and informed the Thai side of various measures undertaken by the Government of Indonesia
to address the situation. The Deputy Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to extend assistance to
Indonesia on this matter. Ambassador Rauf expressed his appreciation for Thailand’s offer of assistance
and would inform Thailand of Indonesia’s need so that the assistance from friendly nations will meet the needs
of the authorities on the ground which would be effective measures in alleviating the situation.  
          Furthermore, Ambassador Rauf also informed that Indonesia is ready to raise the matter in the upcoming
ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting on Environment in Vietnam to be held at the end of October 2015.
