On 8 September 2015, Mr. Jesada Chavarnbhark, Thai Ambassador to Argentina, together with Mr. Hector Floriani, Rector of the National University of Rosario, Mr. Franco Bartolacci, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations, and Mrs. Gladys Teresita Lechini, Professor, presided over the inauguration of “Thailand Corner” at the university’s lecture room.
Rector Floriani thanked the Royal Thai Embassy for launching the project with National University of Rosario. The books provided would help widen vision of university’s students, academicians and young generation of Argentina to know more about Thailand, as well as opening up the Argentine society.
The Thai Ambassador gave an opening remark emphasizing the objective of the project which is to promote the people-to-people relations between Thailand and Argentina. He also wished that the Corner with more than 100 books about Thailand would become another source of information for students, academic personals, and general public in Rosario, as well as would promote the better knowledge and understanding about Thailand and bring the two peoples even closer. Furthermore, Ambassador Jesada also underlined that the National University of Rosario was the second public university in Argentina that the Royal Thai Embassy had carried out the “Thailand Corner” project with, thus he wished that it would become the first step for better and closer cooperation between the university and the embassy. The inauguration ceremony was followed by reception well attended by approximately 100 guests comprising of Honorary Consuls in Rosario, representatives from Santa Fe provincial government, representatives from academic society in Rosario, and students.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires has initiated the project “Thailand Corner” in Argentina and Uruguay since 2011. The project at National University of Rosario is the sixth corner after National University of La Plata in 2011, Catholic University of Cordoba in 2012, Catholic University of Uruguay and Catholic University of Salta in 2013, and Torcuato Di Tella University in 2014.
