22 August 2015– The Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, in partnership with the Gardens by the Bay, organised SABAI BY THE BAY Jazz Concert tohonour His Majesty the King and to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Thailand – Singapore Diplomatic Relations at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, featuring the famous Thai saxophonist Mr. Sekpol Unsamran, a.k.a. “Koh Mr. Saxman”, and his band the Sound of Siam, which infuses Thai musical instruments into Western contemporary jazz music. His Excellency Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed the VIP guests during the Special Performance at 16.00 hrs, which was also graced by the Guest-of-Honour, His Excellency Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister, Minister, Prime Minister's Office andSecond Minister for Home Affairs andSecond Minister for Foreign Affairs.
At SABAI BY THE BAY, “Koh Mr. Saxman” and the Sound of Siam also performed His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s royal compositions, including “Oh I Say” and “Still On My Mind”, as well as Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s royal composition, “Som Tum”. The artists have also composed a special song “Unite Thailand-Singapore” especially for this event in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Singapore diplomatic relations, which dated back to 1965 when Thailand was 1 of the first 12 countries that officially recognised the Republic of Singapore after its independence.
SABAI BY THE BAY was performed at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, on 22-23 August 2015 at 15.00 hrs and 16.15 hrs.
