Lao PDR Emerging Leaders Programme Delegation pays a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

On 21 August 2015, a delegation from the Lao Peoples’ Democratic Republic consisting of 9 medium-level executives from the People's Supreme Court, the Office of the Supreme People's Prosecutor, the Office of the President of the Lao PDR, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance existing bilateral relations and close ties between Thailand and Lao PDR, as well as methods to facilitate closer connectivity in the border areas. The delegation expressed their thankfulness for the honor of being the first delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs after his assumption into position. 

During this visit, the delegation participated in many activities held in Bangkok and Chonburi Province. These activities include paying a courtesy call on the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, visiting the Ministry of Justice and the Court of Justice, and visiting the Recruit Training Center, Royal Thai Navy, in Chonburi Province.  

The delegation’s visit to Thailand is part of the Lao PDR Emerging Leaders Programme. The Programme, held for the third consecutive time this year from 17 to 21 August 2015, aims to create a network of emerging leaders between Thailand and Lao PDR, It is also an important mechanism in perpetuating closer and more stable relations between both sides through providing an opportunity for an exchange of views on Thai – Lao PDR cooperation.
