On 13 August 2015, H.E. Mr. Vu Hong Nam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam paid a courtesy call on H.E. General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This courtesy call was aimed at strengthening cordial bilateral relations under the Thailand - Vietnam Strategic Partnership and following up the outcomes of the official visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister to Thailand and the 3rd Thailand - Vietnam Joint Cabinet Retreat in Bangkok on 23 July 2015.

Both sides discussed ways and means to continue the on-going momentum of cooperation in all dimensions, including cooperation on labour and illegal fishing settlement and the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Thai - Vietnamese Diplomatic Relations in 2016.

The discussion also focused on the promotion of connectivity, including the setting-up of scheduled passenger bus routes between Thailand - Lao PDR - Vietnam and the development of coastal shipping between Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam.

Moreover, Vietnam agreed to send officials to join the Thai - Vietnamese Civil Servants Exchange Programme to be organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in early September 2015.
